Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy

The craniosacral system (a physiological system like the cardiovascular and respiratory systems) provide the physical environment in which the brain and spinal cord develops and functions. The craniosacral (CS) system plays a role in maintaining the environment and function of the Central Nervous System (CNS). It consists of membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord as well as attached bones, such as the skull, face and mouth, which make up the cranium and sacrum (tail bone). It’s easy to see the CS system has powerful influence over a variety of body functions.

How Cransiosacral Therapy works

The CST practitioner works with the client to assist in the body’s self correcting mechanisms. This light touch technique works with the natural and unique rhythms of our body systems to pinpoint and correct physiological problems.

The practitioner evaluates the craniosacral system by applying about 5 grams of pressure, or about the weight of a nickel to various spots throughout the body, which may include the feet, the spine or the head. The CST practitioner helps release body restrictions when it is unable to perform on its own and follows cues from the body on how to proceed. This method is safe and effective.

Achieving system relief

Because the focus of CST is to uncover the core of the problem and provide symptom relief, the length of time and number of sessions are extremely variable and depends on the individual’s response.

Many people use this treatment as a personal wellness regime. They report having more energy, sleeping better, and being sick less often.
